Hello

My name is Tinj Lin Bo and I' m a Chinese avistion blogger located in Shenzhen.
According to officials at the Civil Aviation Administration of China, SCandinavian Airlines has been granted slots to Xiamen - 3 weekly and Nanjing - 5 weekly. The routes will commence in the end of March 2016 from Copenhagen. Only Swedish and Danish registered aircrafts approved to operate.

Civil Aviation Adminstration of China to present shortly the slots together with to new Beijing Capital Airlines services to Copenhagen. From Beijing and Hangzhou respectivly.

And why should CAAC not allow norwegian registrered aircrafts to operate the Xiamen and Nanjing routes when SAS are allowed to use their norwegian A340's on the existing routes between CPH and Beijing/Shanghai?

Simply because traffic rights are trinational negotiated and signed. They are all Scandinavian agreements with equal rights to all 3 countries.

If you read a lot of aviation rellated news, you will learn that China frequently uses slot requests (within a bilatteral agreement), to issue political presure.
There are numerous examples. Lufthansa with the incorrect spelled name of Beijing on the 380 airframe and such.

If SAS is opening a new route to China, it is within the current bilatteral agreement.
With the frozen political climat towards Norway, China can deny LN registered planes to operates new routes based on slot requests.

Slots may have been granted, but I find it hard to believe that SAS has any intention of using them if these loose rumours should pass a closer scrutiny.
One simple reason makes it unthinkable and that is the fact that only 3 flights per week to Xiamen is totally against SAS strategy that calls for at least 5 frequencies even in the start up phase of a new route.

Jan Olsen, BEFORE I do my research-may the answer be in the text we know already ?

Why would, if it is right what you're saying, a negation results be accepted from the Scandinavian side, where the counterpart demand swedish and danish reg aircrafts only ?

Jan Olsen, I'm very well aware and informed about the current China-Norwegian relations.

As Norway has not renegotiated their Air Agreement with China, I suppose the other two "SAS-countries" have done so, I found the bi-national relations rather less important, as long as SAS may have the opportunity to move aircraft between the national registries.

Norway and China have cold relations, but no Norwegian Government intents to excuse that the independent Norwegian based Nobel Comittee awarded the Peace prize to a political dissident some years ago.

To Pf; Sorry to learn your lack of knowledge regarding the political issues China - Norway. Hence the potential issue of 330/340 frames on LN register operating new services to China......

Jan Olson, should we keep the lingo in this discussion in English, please !

I would say registration is the least problem for a serious carrier. Although it is more expensive to have an airplane on swedish or danish rego.

Another hitch is the protection for owners/lessors, some Cape Town convention.

Det er vel ganske trolig? SAS ønsker jo å øke i Kina.

Could it be so easy that the Peoples Republic of China has extended the Air Agreement with the Kingdoms of Denmark and Sweden to two new destinations.

However, it is of course up to SAS to decide whether they will fly to these mentioned cities or not.

Thanks

Well - if this is true then you better provide a source as soon as something is published.

Nice try but this must be a scam or a joke? I just can't see SAS adding Xiamen and/or Nanjing as it dosen't fit in their current strategy where new destinations must have high O&D from/to Scandinavia.
