Scandinavian Aviation Academy AB in Sweden will, January 1, 2006, acquire 66% of the shares in Twinair SA, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Twinair has since 1989 carried out flight education in Lausanne, Switzerland. Twinair is both a FTO and TRTO andTwinair SA approved by Federal Office for Civil Aviation (FOCA). Twinair´s business areas are initial training (20%), JAR-OPS courses (40%) and type-ratings (40%).

“The chance to be part owner in Twinair is just the kind of investment that we have been looking for to obtain our ambition to grow on other markets than the Scandinavian. Twinair´s TRTO will be a great complement to SAA´s FTO and we will together be able to offer our customers everything from initial training to type-ratings including line training, and of course all kinds of JAR-OPS courses. Twinair´s location in Switzerland will give us access to the market in Central Europe with German, French and Italian speaking customers.

The potential in what the two companies can offer together is big, and the investment in the future feels like the right thing to do”, says Mats Holmgren, CEO/President of Scandinavian Aviation Academy.

“Joining our strength with SAA is for sure one decisive turn in Twinair history. The complementarities of the two schools will allow a unique international training including more than 30 type ratings. The strength of SAA in the initial training will boost the offer of Twinair in this segment and central European student will access a new type of training in term of quality/price. The experience of Twinair in the JAR-OPS training will allow Twinair and SAA to offer a complete service to companies as well. The whole Twinair team is highly motivated, confident and look forward working with its new partner”, says Serge Liardon CEO/President of Twinair.
